Meet at 0700 in Cottonwood Safeway Parking lot, outer perimeter, across from OfficeMax for all hikes

Oct. 1: Woody Mt. and Arboretum

Distance: 4 miles plus walk around Arboretum

Difficulty: Maximum elevation: 8,107feet, Total Ascent 750 feet

Description: Drive north on I-17 to Flagstaff Airport Exit, drive north on 89A .6 mile to Fr 532. 1.8 miles to FR 231. Turn left and drive 3.5 miles to FR 231C to park. After hike to lookout, return to vehicles and proceed north on FR 231 to Arboretum. An entry fee of $6 is required.

Oct. 8: Rio de Flag petroglyphs and Old Caves Crater

Distance: approximately 6 miles

Difficulty: Maximum elevation: 7,150, Total Ascent 500 feet

Description: Drive north on I-17 to Flagstaff. Continue north on Hwy 89 to Eldon Pueblo parking on the left. After hike to petroglyphs, return to vehicles and proceed north on Hwy 89 to Old Caves Crater.

Oct. 15: Dorsey-Kelsey-Hog Hill Loop Hike

Distance: 7.5 miles (loop).

Difficulty: Maximum elev: 6946 feet, Total Ascent: 1550 feet.

Description: Drive through Sedona on Hwy 89A, turn onto FR 535 above the switchbacks, drive for 15.5 miles on FR 535, 536, 538 and 538E to Dorsey Trailhead, hike down Dorsey to the intersection with Kelsey, hike down Kelsey to its end at Hog Hill Trail and hike on Hog Hill back to where we parked. High clearance vehicles needed.

Oct. 22: Sandy Canyon to Fisher Point

Distance: 7 miles

Difficulty: Maximum elev. 7,034 feet, Total Ascent: 700 feet

Description: Drive north on I-17 to Lake Mary Rd., drive 4.6 miles to trailhead on the left.

Oct. 29: Barbershop Trail

Distance: 5.3 miles

Difficulty: Maximum elev. 7,702 feet, Total Ascent 1,102 feet

Description: Drive south on Hwy. 260 to FR 300 to FR 139 leaving one vehicle. Proceed on to FR 137 to begin hike.
