May 2017 Skyliner Hike Schedule

NOTE: Meet at 0700 in Cottonwood Office Max parking lot, outer perimeter, for all Saturday hikes and 0800 same place for all Wednesday walks.
 May 3, Wednesday Walk: east end of Jail Trail
Distance: 2 miles
Difficulty: easy
Description: beginning at Riverfront Park and walk northwest
Meet: 0800 in Cottonwood Office Max parking lot, outer perimeter

May 6, Saturday Hike: Fred Haught Cabin
Distance: 6.6 miles
Difficulty: no steep inclines
Description: Hike on FR300 to Spring then trailhead to Fred Haught Cabin

 May 10, Wednesday Walk:  Jail Trail northwest from Old Town
Distance: 2 1/2 miles
Difficulty: easy
Description: beginning at Old Town and walk northwest

May 13, Saturday Hike, North Mingus Tadpole Loop
Distance: 8.3 miles
Difficulty: Moderate, elevation gain of 2192'
Description: Park at Iron King Mine, take Trail 106 to Trail 106/105 connector, take the connector to Trail 105, take Trail 105 to the top of Mingus, hike past the Glider Port and return on Trail 106.

Distance: 3 miles
Difficulty: easy

May 20, Saturday Hike, Abineau/Waterline/Bearjaw loop
Distance: 6.8 miles
Difficulty: Moderate with some steep inclines.
Description: Drive up Oak Creek Canyon taking the I-17 exit at the airport, continue into Flagstaff on Milton. Turn left onto Humphrey St (US Hwy 180) and continue for 19.4 mi (pass the Snow Bowl turnoff) and turn right on FR 151 just past mile marker 235. After 1.6 miles turn slightly left at the junction with FR418 and travel 3.1 miles to FR 9123J, turn right and travel .6 miles to the trail head parking lot. Hike up Abineau trail to where it intersects with Waterline road and then down Waterline to the intersection with Bearjaw. Take Bearjaw back to the trail head.

May 24, Wednesday Walk:  Upper Mescal Gulch
Distance: 2 1/2 miles
Difficulty: easy
Description: off 89A at upper end of Mescal

May 27, Saturday Hike, Mt. Kendrick
Distance: 9 miles
Difficulty: Moderate/Difficult, elevation gain 2657'
Description: Drive up Oak Creek Canyon taking the I-17 exit at the airport, continue into Flagstaff on Milton. Turn left onto Humphrey St (US Hwy 180) for 17.2 miles and turn left onto FR 193, drive 3.3 miles and turn right onto FR 171, drive 2 miles and turn right on FR 190 and drive to the Mt. Kendrick trailhead. Hike to the lookout tower at the top of the mountain and return the same trail.
