Moderate but with some gentle elevation change
Description:
Start at Elmerville (or near) and follow horse trails to the
horseshoe bend on Oak Creek, climb up a cliff to look at an Indian
ruin. We will return by the same route.

20: Goat Spring Trail (4-wheel drive required)
Distance:
about 4.25 miles (round trip)
Difficulty:
Elevation varies from 4175 feet to 4800 feet.
Description:
Drive south on Salt Mine road 7.2 miles to Forest Road 574, go 1.1
miles on FR 574, turn on 9206J and continue 1.8 miles to the
trailhead. The trail itself winds along Chasm Creek and into the
Cedar Bench wilderness. We will return the same way.

27: Hike on Forest Road 119A at Middle Verde.

About 6 miles
Difficulty:
Moderate, around 500 feet elevation change
Description:
Hike along dirt roads from I-17 at Middle Verde Road to the the
intersection of Forest road 119A and Hwy 30.
